SeeSaw Networks Extends Reach to College Students On and Off Campus
The University Network and Zilo Networks provide digital signage venues on 469 college campuses
SAN FRANCISCO, July 17, 2007 - SeeSaw Networks, the leading out-of-home digital media company, announced the addition of The University Network’s and Zilo Networks’ on campus digital screens to its out-of-home digital media network, creating the most extensive network to reach college students on and off campus. SeeSaw gives advertisers a national out-of-home digital media platform to engage young adults through digital signage in locations they visit daily. The network includes screens in places such as student unions, recreation centers and dorm rooms as well as in grocery stores, book stores, restaurants and specialty retail stores.
These new partnerships increase SeeSaw’s ability to reach college students where they are both day and night, on and off campus. Zilo runs original programming tailored to the college audience on digital screens in dorm rooms that reach students on over 350 college campuses. By combining The University Network (TUN) and Zilo, SeeSaw enables advertisers to plan campaigns that reach over 7.2 million enrolled college students at 469 campuses across the country.
“Through our partnership with SeeSaw Networks, media agencies can place ads in student dorm rooms with just a few mouse clicks,” said David Isaacs, chief executive officer of Zilo. “Advertisers are able to integrate our venues into national campaigns that reach students both on-campus with our campus cable distribution as well as in complementary off-campus locations like bookstores and music and entertainment stores.”
TUN provides content for digital screens that is attractive to university students, focusing on branded entertainment rather than pure advertising. The screens, located on over 200 campuses, provide advertisers with a medium to engage students through a mix of campus announcements that help students stay informed and targeted advertising.
OTX, an engagement analytics research company, found that 70 percent of 18-to-24-year-olds pay attention to out-of-home digital advertising and that 27 percent buy a product or take another action as a result of seeing this type of advertising.
“Emerging Generation Y buyers spend less time looking at traditional media and expect to create their own media experiences in more spontaneous settings,” said Jeff Dickey, co-founder of SeeSaw Networks. “Advertising on and around college campuses with out-of-home digital media gives advertisers a cost effective way to reach students who are in the process of defining their lifestyles and brand preferences.”
SeeSaw’s online planning service, SeeSawAds.com, allows media agencies to efficiently and effectively target college students by selecting from 469 campuses across the country. Advertisers simply specify an appropriate ‘trading area’ (i.e. radius) for their product or service around each campus and SeeSawAds searches for the optimal venues within that defined area. This capability enables agencies to easily plan national, regional and local campaigns that reach college students at venues both on and off campus.
